Tuesday 9/30

I will not be at school from Wednesday 10/1 - Monday 10/6. I will be on a tanner crab survey with the AK Dept. of Fish and Game. This is part of an outreach effort by Fish and Game to bring real science back to the classroom. This will be a unique opportunity for students on my return. Please direct any questions to Mr. Northcutt.

I have also sent out Parent-Teacher Conference Schedule times. Please ask your student about the form and send it back.

Conferences are Thursday 10/9 and Friday 10/10.

Students heard a Tlingit Raven story on Friday and began raven art. Today we finished the art and will begin scientific method.

We are visiting the AK State Museum for the Raven Exhibit. Please make sure you have signed a permission slip.

We are learning to solve algebraic equations using inverse operations. Students had time to practice in class and then begin homework.

We finished the jigsaw reading to understand all of the multiple intelligences. We learned about finding the root meaning of science words. Students then practiced finding root words using the dictionary.

Pat is excited to meet our kids, and to get started helping them cultivate their own dancing ability. Ballroom dancing brings healthy exercise to young people as they practice the social graces of interacting with others. In our second year, this club is supported by the Juneau International Folkdancers and CBJ Youth Activities grant. We did a jigsaw reading to understand all of the multiple intelligences. Students worked in expert groups to learn 2 intelligences and then went to groups to share their knowledge and learn about the other 7 intelligences.
